Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions for NPO / PBO / Educational. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email us.

Londvolota has a track record of supporting schools, universities, NPOs, PBOs and trusts that advance mathematics and science education, scarce-skills development, and entrepreneurship in South Africa. The Londvolota model provides funding and ongoing support for programmes that build skills and capability, based on a clear alignment with the Trust’s objectives.

Londvolota supports registered Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs), Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs), trusts, schools, TVET colleges, and universities whose programmes align with our objectives — STEM education, scarce-skills development, entrepreneurship support, or community and industrial development.
We also support individual students studying, or applying to study, mathematics, science, engineering or a related technical field, where that field of study links to a current or potential role in GE’s South African supply chain.

For organisations:
● A registered NPO/NPC, an approved PBO (section 30, Income Tax Act), a registered trust, or an accredited school, TVET college, or university
● A properly constituted governing body and founding governance document (MOI, trust deed, or constitution)
● A programme or institutional objective aligned with STEM education, scarce-skills development, entrepreneurship, or community/industrial development
● Sound financial management and reporting capacity, proportionate to the organisation’s size

For students, in addition to proof of enrolment in good standing:
● Studying, or applying to study, mathematics, science, engineering, or a related technical field — or advanced graduate/postgraduate study
● A clear, demonstrated link between the intended field of study and a current or potential role in GE’s South African supply chain

Londvolota will not support:

● Any organisation in contravention of the laws of the country
● Organisations that are not properly registered or governed
● Programmes with no clear alignment to Londvolota’s objectives
● Student applications with no demonstrated link to GE’s supply chain
● Any application that does not meet the criteria of the basic assessment

There is no fixed minimum or maximum amount. Each application specifies the funding requested on the form, and the Trustees assess this against your programme, budget, and the funds available for that round.

No. Funding through the Londvolota Development Trust is provided as a grant, not a loan — there is no interest charged and no repayment required. Funds are, however, subject to the terms of a signed Grant Agreement, including programmatic reporting and compliance obligations.

No, collateral is not applicable to organisational or programme funding. Instead, Londvolota verifies your registration status, governance, and programme delivery track record as part of due diligence before any funding is approved and disbursed.

An eligible organisation is a registered NPO/NPC, approved PBO, registered trust, or accredited school, TVET college, or university. Students apply through the same NPO/PBO/Educational application form, but are assessed differently — proof of enrolment plus a clear link between your field of study and GE’s current or potential supply chain, rather than organisational registration and governance
